The Political
Loyalty/Alliance | Daphne was one of the lucky few who did not have to choose a side. Her Father, of course, was pro-Voldemort, but the decision did not fall to her prior to the Dark Lord's fall. Had she been born in an earlier time, she would have been easily swayed to the charisma and passion of an earlier Tom Riddle. In her lifetime, however, his thoughts had turned toward insanity and he ruled only through fear, which made her hesitant to become involved.

Role in the War | Daphne had little to no involvement in the war. Her parents were not insisting that she become involved at all and when the battle finally arrived at Hogwarts, she did not fight for either side. She protected herself and her sister until the dust had settled.

Political Views | For her age, Daphne is particularly interested in the political scene. It isn't widely known among her friends and coworkers, but she always has an ear to the ground for that sort of thing. She thinks the currently Ministry is weak and embracing simplistic ideals for a Utopia that doesn't exist nor will ever exist. Too much focus on building relationships and not enough focus on strengthening the magical community as a whole.

The Appearance
Height | 5 feet, 7 inches
Weight | 140 lbs
Hair | long, blonde, and naturally wavy
Eyes | Green

Detailed Appearance | Despite being politically oriented, Daphne was still raised a Pureblood daughter of a wealthy family. While their wealth has cut in half, she still holds very high standards when it comes to her appearance and the appearance of others. You can tell a lot about a person simply by the way they present themselves. Slightly taller than average with a slim figure, Daphne embraces a sleek professional style when in public. She likes pencil skirts, heels, and just the right amount of accessory. She will never be caught looking less than well put together. To do so is a failure and misrepresenting herself will only hinder her career goals.

When not dressed for work or society, Daphne is content to relax at home. She would absolutely never be caught dead in sweat pants, but she does own a few pairs of yoga pants that she will lounge in. She also is a very big fan of pajamas, whether it's a nightgown, shorts, or sleep pants. She's convinced that pajamas are the most comfortable things in the world. Most of the sets she owns involve high quality materials and appeal to the more attractive concepts, but she does have one pair of pink fleece pajamas with little kittens all over them. They are truly her own dirty little secret. She adores them and accepts that they are her guilty pleasure. No one, however, is allowed to know of their existence. Not even Astoria.

If you're looking for any distinguishing marks, Daphne will be sure to inform you that her skin is perfect. No unnecessary holes punched into her skin for jewelry and no ugly tattoos littering her perfectly fair skin. The very thought is jut absurd.

The Personality
Wand | 10 inches, Elm, Manticore Hair
Boggart | Black Widow
Patronus | Golden Retriever

Strengths | Determined, able to create and hold long term plans/goals, Very loyal to her friends and family, has a very strong sense of who she is, is surprisingly maternal (absolutely loves kids ... even though they are messy), curious, driven, and handles surprise well.
Weaknesses | Can be easily manipulated by a smooth talker and a passionate idea, will not back down from a challenge no matter how pointless said challenge is, can sometimes focus too intently on a single thing and as a result miss important details, is too concerned with how other people see her.

Detailed Personality | Daphne is one of those girls who has a certain idea of the life she wants. At ten she planned her wedding down to who would be sitting beside who. It wasn't until her final years at Hogwarts that such silly thoughts of weddings and living happily ever after started to drift to the back of her mind, replaced by thoughts of her future. A war tends to do that. Having survived it with minimal wounds, Daphne is particularly focused on gaining some stability back for not only herself, but her family. The death of her father left her with a Mother who has little care left and the responsibility of keeping their family name from fading. She does not want to be the head of the house, but she doesn't want to see what they have fade into nothing. While she does not want the role, she wants there to be something to leave her children or Astoria's children in the future. It's why she's pushed herself as far as she has and insists on continuing to do so.

Outside of her ambition and drive, Daphne is particularly expressive. Her facial expressions have always been something her friends have teased her about. Unlike many of the other Slytherins she has not perfected her masks to the degree that say, Draco or Pansy have. When surprised, those masks tend to slip and leave her with an honest expression that, from time to time, can be quite comical. She is also one of those individuals who speak with her hands. Things comes out all the more when she's speaking of something she's passionate about.

Passion is what drives Daphne a lot of the time. While it may not be openly displayed, she is a very passionate individual. It is hard for her to put only a little of herself in what she does. When she sets herself on a path, it tends to be with everything she has. This can be both a strength and a weakness, depending on the situation.

The History
Childhood | Unlike what many people might thing, being born into a Pureblood family does not mean that you have some special sort of childhood that others don't. Perhaps she had a few extra toys than some, but she had a Mother and Father who loved her and that's really what drove her childhood experience. She was only two when Astoria entered the family, so there was little time for much jealousy to grow between them. Their parents ensured that the girls were never in the position where one spent more time with either of them. Having two children so close in age was difficult enough with a resentment between them.

When thinking back on her childhood, Daphne doesn't remember those rare occasions where she'd heard her parents argue or those times when she fell and hurt herself. Instead, she immediately gravitates to those times when she and Astoria were happy, whether it be walks in the garden or climbing one of the trees on the grounds, or the times when they had been able to convince their father to play hide and seek with them.

Her childhood was nothing more than what a little girl could make it. She grew up in a happy home and well aware of the magic that lived both within herself and the home. By the time her Hogwarts letter arrived, she was a determined eleven year old with a growing excitement to attend the school that both her parents had attended in their youth. She was ready to prove herself the next capable Greengrass.

Hogwarts | In those first few years, Hogwarts was everything that Daphne had expected it to be: moving staircases, wonder, and excitement. She found a place within Slytherin easily enough, making friends with Pansy, Draco, Theodore, and the rest of those in her year. Unlike Pansy and Draco, she wasn't interested in being the leader of a group and she slid easily in beside Pansy as her best friend. Content with the attention that brought her.

It wasn't until Pansy's interest in Draco began to grow that the two girls felt anything towards the other outside of friendship. At first, Daphne had assumed that she was simply jealous. Draco was a Malfoy, after all. Even in the mind of a thirteen year old girl, that was significant. For a year, the two girls competed for his attention. It wasn't until the began their fourth year that Daphne realized that she really wasn't all that interested in Draco. He was a bit of a whiner and with the addition of the Durmstrang boys within the school, it was plain to see that there were other features that drew her attention. She was then content to let Pansy strive for his attention. She had enjoyed the challenge when it had started, but she had grown out of it.

Things between her and Pansy smoothed out after that and they returned to their easy friendship. Daphne will be the first person to tell you that she'd never kept anything from her friend, but that wouldn't be entirely the truth. There's one thing she's never told Pansy. At the end of their fifth year, when Fred and George Weasley caused such a commotion, the unthinkable happened. Daphne Greengrass, proper pureblood and best friend of Pansy Parkinson, developed a huge crush on the Weasley twins. It is a secret she swore to take to the grave, but may not have been so hidden to those who might be paying attention. The summer their store opened in Diagon Alley, she visited as often as her parents would allow. There was always so many people crammed into the store, but she couldn't be bothered. That brief moment when one of them rang in her purchase and offered their usual charm would make her entire week. If any of her friends happened to notice, they never mentioned it and Daphne was spared the embarrassment.

Such simple delights, however, were not enough to bloke out the tension that was building within the wizarding world. Talk of Voldemort had returned and fear had started to creep in. For a while, the darkness did not touch her own home, but it wasn't to last. Her father, making a final decision, threw his loyalty in with the Dark Lord. Daphne could not understand his decision entirely, but he never asked her to understand. Nor did he ask her to make the same decision. The only thing he requested of her as she and her sister boarded the train for her last year was that she keep her head down and look out for Astoria.

Little did she know it would be the last time she would speak to her Father. Her parents requested that they remain at school for the holidays. It was safer for them, the loyalty of their family to the Dark Lord would keep the Carrows attention from shifting to them unless they willingly drew it and, no matter who the headmaster was, Hogwarts was still the safest place for them at that time. When the final battle arrived, she was given the same options as the others. She didn't fight. She fulfilled her promise to her Father and stuck with Astoria.

It wouldn't be until the dust from the final battle had settled that she would learn of her Father's demise. Killed in battle. The one responsible unknown.

Post-Hogwarts | For a long time, Daphne held a lot of anger over her Father's death. Rather than directing it outward, however, she directed to the man himself. She felt he should have known better than to join sides with the Dark Lord. He should have known better than to be at that battle. Had he not gone, he would have still been alive and they would not have had to face the repercussions of their family being associated with the loosing side. Her Mother was a wreck and was of little use. She faced the trials the best she could at seventeen, applying herself with as much dedication as she could put forth. They were ordered to pay compensation for her Father's actions, but quick investments and the liquidation of some of her Father's prized belongings kept them out of the poor house. Their wealth had been substantially diminished, but it was not gone. If she was careful and able to prevent her mother's expenditures, they could maintain the family home.

It has taken a few years but she's managed to stabilize the ledgers. In doing so she's had to part with many of the things she'd enjoyed as a child; their vacation home in the south of France being the heaviest loss to bare. It had been one of her favourite places in the world. The sale had brought her family more security in their finances, but it broke her heart to do so. She hopes, in the future, she might be able to save enough to purchase it back. It's a dream she holds onto, even though reality dictates that it will be a very long time before she is financially sound to do such a thing.

With the war over and her duties at home in hand, Daphne has turned her focus towards her career. Currently she has worked her way to the station of Obliviator with the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, but she does not intend to stop there. She has a certain skill for politics and finances and she aims for the top seat in the Ministry. It's about time they had a Minister who knew what they were doing.

The Miscellaneous
Common Knowledge |
  • Is an Obliviator for the Ministry
  • Has a younger sister names Astoria.
  • BFF's with Pansy Parkinson.
  • Loves a good competition and/or challenge. It's legitimately the easiest way to get her to do something she otherwise wouldn't.
  • Was never affiliated with either side of the war.
  • Her Father was killed at the Battle of Hogwarts.

  • Secrets |
  • Owns a pair of pink flannel pajamas with kittens on them, that she loves.
  • In fifth year, she had the biggest crush on the Weasley Twins. It is a secret that she will take to the grave. She has a certain appreciation for red hair and who else can pull it off better than the Weasley's.
  • Used to be jealous of Pansy having Draco's attention ... until she realized that she wasn't at all interested in Draco. She simply liked the competition between herself and Pansy.
  • While some know that she is politically driven, she hasn't shared her full goals with anyone. She wants the top seat in the Ministry.

  • Participation | I don't see her going out and buying it unless someone challenges her about it. If Pansy takes it, or her sister, she'll take it simply to prove that she has nothing to worry about.

Soul Mate Attributes | For Daphne, a soul mate is going to have to be someone who can challenge her. She'd never be able to handle someone who gives her whatever she wants whenever she asks for it. She wants the challenge. She wants to be able to fight with them, in order to make up. She's a very motivated person who knows what she wants, whoever her soul mate is will need to be able to handle that part of her personality.

Plot Ideas | A few here and there. lol. We'll just have to wait and see.
